Teaching Awards
William E. Wine Award Award Guidelines Dossier Guidelines Deadlines
The William E. Wine Award is given for a history of university teaching excellence in memory of W. E. Wine, an alumnus and former rector of the Board of Visitors. Three awards of $2000 are given each year. Nominations by students, alumni, and faculty in each college are reviewed by respective college selection committees. The colleges' selected candidates are reviewed by the University Wine Award Committee, which then selects the three award recipients each year.
Alumni Teaching Award Award Guidelines Dossier Guidelines Deadlines
The Alumni Teaching Award is given for teaching excellence within the academic Colleges. The Academy of Teaching Excellence selects two recipients each year from the College Teaching Excellence Certificate holders of the past three years. Two awards of $2000 are given each year. Certificates of Teaching Excellence are chosen by each College, and each may have its own individual deadlines and procedures.
University Sporn Award Award Guidelines Dossier Guidelines Deadlines
This award is for teaching excellence in introductory subjects in memory of Dr. and Mrs. Philip J. Sporn. Dr. Sporn was president and chief executive officer of the American Electric Power Company. One award of $2000 is given each year. Nominations are received from students only, and the recipient is chosen by a student committee.
The recipients of the above three major teaching awards are inducted into the Academy of Teaching Excellence each year. An individual who has received any one of these awards is ineligible for another major award for a period of seven years and can receive any particular award only once.

Advising Awards
Alumni Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Academic Advising

One award of $2000 is given each year for excellence in undergraduate advising. The Alumni Undergraduate Advising Award committee reviews nominations made by students, alumni, faculty, departments, or self-nominations, and selects a recipient. The Award includes membership in the University's Academy of Advising Excellence.
Alumni Award for Excellence in Graduate Academic Advising

One award of $2000 is given each year for excellence in graduate advising. The Alumni Graduate Advising Award committee reviews nominations made by students, alumni, faculty, departments, or self-nominations, and selects a recipient. The Award includes membership in the University's Academy of Advising Excellence.
Provost's Award for Excellence in Advising

One award of $2000 is given annually to recognize an individual who serves undergraduate advisees in exemplary ways. The committee reviews nominations made by students, alumni, faculty, departments, or self-nominations, and selects a recipient. The Award includes membership in the University's Academy of Advising Excellence.
